HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO PLACE MY ORDER? 

It is never too early to drop us a line in order to avoid disappointment. I do book up quite a long way in advance, especially in the Summer months and often receive enquiries for weddings that over a year away. That being said, it is always worth getting in touch to check whether your date is free as I have made wedding cakes with as little as a month’s notice in the past. Just drop me a line and I will let you know whether I can fit you in.

HOW DO I BOOK? 

In order to secure your date a non-refundable deposit of £100 must be paid. A deposit invoice will be sent to you once you have decided that you would definitely like Blossom & Crumb to make your cake and payments can be made by card or bank transfer. Please note that no dates can be held until this a deposit payment has been made. Design details can always be pinned down closer to the event so please do contact us even if you are not yet sure what you want at this stage.

WHEN IS THE BALANCE DUE?

The balance for your cake is due four weeks before the wedding date. You will be sent a balance invoce prior to this date and payments can be made by card or bank transfer.

DO YOU OFFER TASTINGS?

DO YOU DELIVER?

Yes. I prefer to personally deliver and set up your cake on the day to ensure that it arrives safely and is displayed beautifully. I can deliver wedding cakes within London and most of the South East of England. If you do want to collect and transport your cake yourself then you are very welcome to collect from us and we will package it securely for its journey but Blossom & Crumb cannot be held responsible for any damage the cake may incur once it has left our kitchen. For your peace of mind I would therefore highly recommend that you budget for me to deliver the cake.

Delivery charged at £0.50 per mile to and from your wedding venue, with a minimum delivery charge of £25. We will work out this mileage charge for you when you first enquire with us. Deliveries with a travel time of over one hour will be subject to a further charge of £10 per hour each way to cover our time. Please note that delivery to a venue requiring car travel of over 1.5 hours or over 50 miles each way requires a minimum spend of £600 (the minimum spend can include smaller treats as well as your main cake). The delivery charge as detailed above would be in addition to the minimum spend. Do get in touch if you have any questions about delivery charges and whether I deliver to your venue.

CAN I HIRE ONE OF YOUR STANDS?

Yes you can. We are always adding to our collection of footed stands and can show you a selection if you come to us for a consultation. The hire charge is £15 with a refundable breakages deposit of £80 (some of stands require a larger deposit due to the cost of replacing them). Where possible we ask that stands are returned within three days of the wedding. We understand that in some circumstances this may not be possible so a later return is sometimes available by arrangement if the stand is not needed by another couple. Alternatively we can collect for a small charge. 

I can also hire out platters and stands for dessert tables. Just ask for more information.

CAN YOU ADD DUMMY TIERS?

Dummy (polystyrene on the inside) tiers can be incorporated to add height to a cake which can be a good solution if you want the impact of a large, tall cake but only need to serve a small number of people. Do bear in mind when planning your budget that as a good deal of the cost of a cake is in the decoration it won’t make much difference to the price of a real cake tier (especially with smaller tiers).

FOOD SAFETY 

I hold a certificate in Level 2 Food & Safety Hygiene, and have comprehensive public liability insurance. I have a Level 5 rating from Lewisham Council.

ALLERGENS 

I am particularly proud of my gluten free cakes and can also offer yummy vegan, egg and dairy free cakes. Products containing nuts and gluten are stored safely in airtight containers, and kept away from other ingredients. However, as careful as I am to avoid cross contamination, I cannot guarantee that the raw products that I use in our baking have not been contaminated prior to purchase. I also cannot cater for nut allergy sufferers as, even with the greatest of care, in a small kitchen where nuts are present I cannot guarantee there will be not traces of nuts in your cake.

Please inform me of any food intolerances or allergies either for you or your guest when you get in touch. I always supply full ingredient and allergen information to the venue when delivering a wedding cake, so that the information can be displayed once the cake has been cut and served.
